It's not initially very clear how you go about obtaining a wedding cake, and even if you do manage to nab one it's a gamble whether or not the game will let you actually assign it as the cake for your ceremony. I was also cakeless thanks to issues before the ceremony. Subsequent attempts to get sims to dance or sit down to eat were a pain. It was the only command I didn't have to repeatedly issue or eventually give up on. Surprisingly, the one thing that did work was getting my guests to throw rice over the newlyweds. Thankfully, I was able to manually make my own sims change, but everyone else was left to look like they'd casually swung by the wedding on their way back from the supermarket. Everyone arrived in their regular everyday wear, and even my own brides had failed to don the dresses I'd carefully picked out for them. When planning the ceremony, you're given the option to choose your sims' wedding outfits, set a theme for your guests and even pick a colour scheme, but when I loaded into the wedding venue, absolutely nobody had adhered to my dress code. The actual wedding ceremony-perhaps the most important part of a game pack centred around marriage-is an absolute nightmare.

Sims 4 wedding stories software#
While I'd been tinkering around with an early access build and repeatedly warned that the software wasn't final, I still experienced the exact same issues in this week's official release. The biggest problem is that, at its core, the pack simply doesn't work. Nope! The Sims 4 has packed up all its marital baggage and dumped it out all over this pack.

EA monetising a feature that has spent so many years in disrepair isn't great, but at least it would fix them and make them more immersive, right?. Originally set to launch today, because of the initial issue with its release in Russia, the game pack will now arrive on February 23.When I saw the gorgeous new Italian-inspired world, the array of striking wedding gowns and the added depth to marriage that My Wedding Stories was offering, I set some of my hesitations aside. My Wedding Stories was first revealed via a leak before Maxis formally announced the game pack a couple of days later. "Love is love, and The Sims community will continue to be a safe space for those who want to see a world where that is true for everyone." "With this in mind, we’ve reassessed our options and realized we can do more than we initially believed and we will now release The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories Game Pack to our community in Russia, unaltered and unchanged," said the studio. Now, after "listening to the outpouring of feelings" from the community, Maxis said it was important for it to stand by its values, "including standing against homophobia, and to share stories like this with those who want and need it most."

Because of this, Maxis was not planning to release The Sims 4 pack in the country as it would be considered non-compliant with this particular law. This includes the distribution of material related to LGBT culture, or to state that same-sex relationships are equal to heterosexual relationships. There is a law against the distribution of "propaganda" to minors that promotes "non-traditional sexual relationships". In Russia, neither same-sex marriages nor civil unions of same-sex couples are allowed, and in July 2020, Russian voters approved a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage.Īlso, anything deemed "gay propaganda" is considered mature content only for those 18 and over. When My Wedding Stories was announced, it was revealed the pack would not be made available in Russia. The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories Game Pack will be made available in Russia after all despite the country's homophobic stance against the LGBT community.
